I am honoured to have been invited back to NYU Sociology Department by the esteemed political theorist Prof. Steven Lukes – here are some pictures of me on 9th March 2017 teaching a class on Propaganda, Politics and Foreign Policy – we had such a really wonderful time! …what lovely students! The class seemed to have a lot of fun and we had lively discussions – very bright sparks! They were fascinated to learn about Hollywood’s role in propaganda and of recent developments in digital propaganda.
Prof Lukes was kind enough to take me to the Russian Tea Room for a drink afterwards and we went for food and to Carnegie Hall to see the incredible pianist Sir Andras Schiff play Schubert!
We went with the brilliant feminist writer Katha Pollitt, who is married to Prof. Lukes and who I was very excited to meet properly. I admire her writing for The Nation and particularly her response to Katie Roiphe.
It was really such a special trip that I will remember always.
I always learn so much from talking with Prof Lukes and I feel very grateful to have had such an incredible visit and to be blessed with the generosity and kindness of such wonderful friends. Prof Lukes even gave me a signed copy of his hilarious novel The Curious Enlightenment of Professor Caritat which I was reading all the way back on the bus today!
To top it off the view from my hotel was also quite exceptional…
What a wonderful city! <3 you NYC!
