Some wonderful news today… I have been accepted to present a paper at the Conference CFP ‘Media and Crises: The Art of Manipulation and Propaganda’ – in Doha so I will be off to that at the end of April! 😀
Also, in the next week or so, I am going to be speaking at a couple of upcoming events about Bad News for Refugees. The first is ‘Migration: Facts and Fictions’ on 11th February which is a half day seminar for elected members, policy makers and practitioners in South Yorkshire and beyond which will focus on separating fact from fiction about migration. The second event where I will be speaking alongside Jon Burnett of the Institute for Race Relations is: Public Meeting Tuesday February 18th “Politicians, Racism and the Media: A Case to Answer” The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, S1 2BX at 7-9pm. A public meeting for South Yorkshire people to demand an end to politicians creating a climate of racism and xenophobia to win votes in the European election 2014 and the Westminster election 2015. South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group (SYMAAG) are the organisers and you can find a flyer at this LINK.
I am also waiting on tenterhooks to hear from Byron Bay Film Festival in Australia who wrote to us recently to tell us they have already sent out 700 rejection letters and our film is STILL in the runnings!! There is a Facebook page for Sumaglla so please ‘like’ and share!
