28th June 2017 – New Chapter in Routledge Companion

I am so delighted to have a chapter alongside work by so many leading scholars in the new Routledge Companion to Media and Human Rights edited by Silvio Waisbord and Howard Tumber – my own chapter is ‘Rights, Media and Mass Surveillance in a Digital Age’ – it anticipated the threat of how our media data might be used in elections – quickly after this was realised with ‘brexit’ and the US election 2016 in close succession: ‘The potential for combining data on personality, consumer patterns, emotions and relationships to bear on an election or referendum looms darkly.’
